Fayerweather Hall is a beautiful, late 19th-century building that served as the University's first gym,
then as fine arts studios, and now, finally, as home to the art history program.
It's also an example of Martin Horn's skill in historic restoration. The building's interior was completely
gutted and its structure replaced to meet 21st century standards. Major challenges included restoration
of the masonry and slate roof, lead paint abatement, and carrying out work with limited laydown area.
Extensive millwork returned the interior finishes to their 19th century splendor. Almost two years of careful
work went into this outstanding historic restoration.
